Web Developers

Qualvu is a young startup that applies innovative software solutions to a technology-averse industry. Our agile development team is responsible for building and deploying this software to automate and scale our organization. The Qualvu platform contains dozens of exciting and challenging subsystems, including speech recognition, search, video encoding, high performance caching strategies, mobile applications, and dozens of web based tools. As a developer, your input is highly valued and has a strong influence on software architecture and product design.

Qualified candidates must be team-oriented, extremely self-motivated, professional, and possess a passion for delivering high-quality solutions. Quick learners who are confident in their ability to take ownership and “hit the ground running” will likely be successful in this role. Collaboration and knowledge sharing with team members is critical; strong communication skills are paramount.

Ideal candidates will have experience developing Web applications using a mix of open source and proprietary tools. Individuals should have at least 2 years of experience developing Web applications in a professional context, as well as a strong proficiency in object-oriented programming. Applicants must have at least a working knowledge of Linux.

Required Skills:
  • 4 year degree from an accredited university in either Computer Science or Software Engineering
  • Practical experience designing relational databases and writing SQL queries
  • Object oriented development in a common web development language
  • Thorough understanding of HTML, CSS and Javascript
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver production quality software
  • Highly motivated by a desire to “build stuff”
Desired Skills:
  • Ruby on Rails, MySQL, PHP, Debian Linux
  • Experience working on agile development teams, with strong understanding of the agile core concepts and values
  • Experience with access to a production environment
  • Experience using at least one major backend framework (.NET, Qcodo, CakePHP, Zend, Rails, etc.)
  • Developers at Qualvu utilize a wide array of tools, from our core languages of PHP, Javascript and MySQL, to C#, Java, Flash, Ruby, bash scripting, and Objective-C. Experience in any of these languages is considered a plus

 QA Engineer

The QA Engineer is an integral part of Qualvu’s Product Development organization. In this position you will play a key role in our QA initiatives, ensuring that Qualvu products meet our quality standards. This is an opportunity to work with cutting edge web technology to continue to drive forward next generation online video qualitative research solutions. We have assembled a bright and motivated team of developers to continue to evolve our offerings.

This position is responsible for analyzing and optimizing both the quality of the Qualvu applications and quality of the application delivery. Our ideal candidate for this position has a strong track record of QA test engineering or software development at other commercial software companies. This role not only involves planning and developing tests, but also building and designing automated tests, debugging root causes of quality issues, and making recommendations for code and infrastructure improvements.

The following position is located at our headquarters offices near the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Lakewood, Colorado, a plethora of outdoor activities, combined with a world-class city combine to create an extraordinary living experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work within a team of Software Developers and along with other QA Engineers to test Qualvu products at the functional and system level using manual and automated testing methodologies
  • Develop, execute and maintain manual and automated tests to identify both GUI and non-GUI based product defects
  • Assume one or more system test roles within the QA technical test team which could include Web Services, APIs, application add-ins, utilities, login authentication, roles & permissions, performance test engineering, Hosting infrastructure, upgrades, security, etc.
  • Provide complete test coverage of assigned areas
  • Analyze software defects to ascertain source and nature of defects
  • Write clear and reproducible software defect incident reports
  • Thoroughly verify development fixes at the code and functional levels
  • Communicate effectively with other members of the QA team, the development team, other departments and managers
  • Become a product and knowledge expert in the areas tested
Essential Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Background:
  • Experience with industry QA standards, processes, tools and methodologies
  • High attention to process and detail
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • A highly organized individual who works well under pressure to complete tasks to meet tight deadlines via strong time/task management skills
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, project management and organizational skills
  • Industry experience in Internet technologies, protocols, application delivery, SQL and relational databases
  • Willing to jump in and assist wherever needed with a positive attitude
  • A fast and able learner with a true passion for quality
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Background:
  • BS degree in Computer Science with direct hands-on experience as a Software QA Engineer or Software Developer
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience developing and de-bugging code: Ruby, PHP, Python
  • Industry experience in testing large scale enterprise web based software products
  • Administrative level Linux and Windows OS expertise
  • Strong networking design and tuning skills: IP, DNS, Routing, HTTP
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HTML, SQL, javascript and PHP
  • Linux scripting experience such as bash

Product Manager, Mobile

Qualvu is looking for a Mobile Product Manager who will be responsible for creating intuitive user experiences to help market researchers capture and deliver rich consumer insights. This Product Manager has a passion for building great products, a strong understanding of usability, web and mobile design principles, an aptitude for solving consumer needs, and demonstrated experience for delivering intuitive software products.

This position will be responsible for the product development and marketing efforts for our mobile apps. Our products and experiences are used by consumers, leading market research firms, and the world’s most influential brands. This individual will join the company at an opportune time where he or she will have a direct impact on the business and its future mobile applications. This position will report to the VP of Product and is based in Lakewood, Colorado, just a short 15-minute drive west of downtown Denver.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Own the user experience for our platform and mobile client applications, putting user needs first in the definition of requirements
  • Analyze and understand user needs, demographics and usage to develop product strategies for our mobile apps that balance consumer and business needs
  • Meet with clients to understand internal and external stakeholder personas, wants and needs
  • Translate broad strategic objectives into specific tactical plans and execute the product plan with a keen interest on quality
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Research & Strategy, and Project Manager Teams to develop products from conception to implementation and deliver projects on time
  • Lead cross-functional teams and build positive relationships
  • Maintain an excellent understanding of the market and competitors and identify opportunities to drive product improvements and new product development
  • Create and execute go-to-market strategies
  • Deliver presentations at all levels of audience
  • Effectively communicate new product offerings to all stakeholders through appropriate channels, including direct communication, release notes, demos, and client interaction
  • Integrate ‘training’ communication at every step of the lifecycle and in new product initiatives
  • Define, constantly measure and improve key product metrics
Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of product management experience with consumer-facing applications
  • Product experience with mobile client applications for iOS and Android
  • Self-starter who brings new ideas, executes and delivers releases efficiently
  • Familiarity with market research and online video ideal
  • Ability to build consensus through well-articulated strategy and business justification
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
